Toothbrushing & Cleaning Tools

Is an electric toothbrush really better than a manual one?

Short answer

Studies generally show electric toothbrushes remove plaque slightly more effectively, largely because their consistent motion compensates for uneven brushing technique. That said, a manual toothbrush used correctly, at the right angle for two minutes twice a day, can still achieve very similar results.
